Presented by Valentina Buscemi, Ph.D.
Specialist Physiotherapist in
Chronic Pain and Complex Pain conditions
I am a physiotherapist with more than 15 years of experience. I have always been passionate about trying to understand why patients develop chronic pain and how to help them living a better life. This passion has led me to study, research and travel around the world to find some answers that have made the person and clinician who I am today. The models and knowledge that I integrate in this course come from different fields such as behavioural psychology, coaching, mindfulness, Yoga and Somatic work. This integration has allowed my practice and my teachings to become more holistic and body-mind oriented. Having built a model that encompasses different models and theories, my goal is to devote part of my work towards training other healthcare professionals in order to spread my knowledge and, above all, my clinical experience as much as possible.
From patients who have followed my Pain Management programmes
I definitely think it is useful. I am discovering many things about myself that I did not know before and the frequency of my flare-ups has decreased. In addition, when I am in pain it is not as bad as before. I think if I did not have sessions with you during these stressful times, I would be much worse off.
Dr Valentina is very understanding, calm and empathetic. She equipped me with knowledge and tools that help me now to manage stress and my back pain has gone! She helped me to understand myself better.
Her holistic approach - that is, his ability to combine neurological, biological, psychological and social theories with physical interventions - has been much more useful to me than purely medical and psychological interventions
The work I did with Valentina has been very useful to improve my daily-life. She took the time to understand me, the way I function, and my specific needs, also being HSP. She guided me to undertsanding what was going on and how to improve my life.
